Painting with light
The shutter speed for the first picture was on 30 seconds. There was a group of people walking with finger lights! Me included. We waved our hands, made circles, and made random movements. By running around like this the effect of the constant light was captured without the presence of the people holding the lights. I feel that when an outsider would look at the photo would be kind of confused to how the effect had come about.
fast and slow shutter speed
I used a very low shutter speed, 1/1600 is my estimation to freeze action. The ISO I used was around 400 for most; it was a cloudy day so I used cloudy white balance. I did not use a point and shoot. I froze people jumping to the ground from a higher surface. Like when Jordan was frozen in the air I used a fast shutter speed to catch him in the air. My distance is about 10 feet away from the main object. The point of view was from about a 45-degree angle below “Jordan” in that case. For most of the others were also from below. I think that the us of the rule of thirds as well as the use of light helped strengthen each photo.
Aperture/depth of field
The bottom middle photo was my favorite shallow depth of field photo. My f-stop was set on 2.2 which is a very shallow setting. My ISO was around 200 between 400, and my white balanced was set on sunny. My favorite far depth of field photo was the top middle photo. The setting of the f-stop was 25. My ISO was 400 and my white balance was on florescent 3. The importance of which depth of field all depends on the shot. Like with the upper right the shot would still be okay if it was reversed, they same as with a lot of the other photos.
Shadow /reflection
My photos were taken in all taken at different times of the day. The photo I am going to focus in on would be the plane pictures with the shadow from the sun set on the opposite side of the plane. I did take this photo on my IPhone, but if I had to guess on the ISO it would be high to let the most amount of light in because of how little was present. As for white balance it would definitely be cloudy. This photo is very simple not very much to it. The basic negative and positive spaces are plain. The reflection off the clouds underneath formed a circular rainbow that I thought was amazing, but unable to capture it in the shot. The shadow casted over the top of the plane, because the plain was turning I was able to capture a small amount of light on the tip of the wing. As much as I would like to say I incorporated pattern and texture in the shot but that aspect was lost due to the minimal light. I think that because of the low light the picture has an almost uncanny and mysterious look to it.
